ADVENT LESSONS AND CAROLS – As you may be aware, in 1999 the Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church entered into a relationship of full communion and began to identify themselves as one faith family. Obviously it will take years for this unity to fully evidence itself. At present an Episcopal Bishop participates in the consecration of every Lutheran Bishop and vice versa. It is also possible for Episcopal priests to be called to Lutheran Churches and vice versa. In Kingston, Michele Meech, the new rector of St. John’s, and I meet regularly with the local Lutheran pastors. In the past our churches have come together for an annual Thanksgiving observance. We have recently reconsidered that practice and have agreed that it might be more appropriate for us to gather at least once a year for a less civic and more faith based observance. We would like to begin a tradition of an annual Service of Advent Lessons and Carols. This year we will pray and fellowship together on Sunday, December 11, at 4PM, at St. John’s Church on Albany Avenue. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.
